We are totally obsessed with the Mojito by Julian Hakes...can you tell? Excited to be among the first in the U.S. to carry the Mojito! In several different colors and sizes! We first saw this shoe on Virtual Shoe Museum and thought it was simply a work of art. It wasn't tell some friends told us that these were actually being sold that we went to search for where we could get our hands on these. Well, we emailed Julian Hakes himself and he was more than happy to get us in touch with his wonderful sales staff...And that's how I love affair with the Mojito began. A little bit about the designer. Julian Hakes is an award winning architect. He wondered, why the need for a foot plate. It's clear that the main force goes to the heel and ball. From that thought, developing the concept of "no footplate" came in to motion. Cleverly named the Mojito because of its single wrapped geometry which starts under the ball of the foot and then over the bridge, then sweeping down below the heel before then twisting back on itself to provide the support for the heel and ankle....Like a twist of lime skin. "The material choice is simple: The shoe is a laminate with Carbon fibre for the core which gives the shoe its spring and strength, leather on the foot side and rubber on the walking wearing side. 3 materials, each doing a specific job." Julian Hakes - Almost 2 years in development Hakes has been working to refine every delicate, sculptural curve and twist to make this a very light, comfortable and elegant design.
